Transgender Support -Welcome Michelle Fox to our PFLAG Clinton Twp. Team

Michelle Fox  Phillips has joined our team and will lead a separate Transgender Support Group during our group sharing from 7:00 – 8:00.

Michelle is a post-operative transsexual. She has two sons who are 35 and 32 yrs. old and 5 grandchildren. She was a past board member of Transgender Michigan and a past board member of Crossroads. She is on the board of PFLAG Detroit,  Metropolitan Community of Detroit and also on the Board of GLSEN (Gay Lesbian Straight Educational Network). Eight years ago, with the help of her late wife Jamie Phillips-Fox, she helped start Transgender Detroit, a 501c(3) to help the transgender community, in Wayne, Oakland and Macomb counties.  She was the founder and facilitator of Transgender Rap at Affirmations in Ferndale. At the center, Michelle has done the helpline, in service training for transgender issues and work with the transgender youth group. She is a past recipient of the Jan Stevenson Service award for Volunteer of the Year in 2003. Michelle has helped, with her late wife Jamie, Affirmations, and the MCCD church in Detroit, to organize the Day of Remembrance observance in November of each year. Michelle has also helped to organize the Transgender Day of Empowerment for the past  6 years.
She received the Volunteer of the Year award from the Motor city Pride Banquet, an award from PFLAG Detroit on their 20th anniversary dinner, and the Diversity Champion Honor Roll from The Race Relations and Diversity Task Force in Birmingham.

Michelle is currently the Executive Director of  GNA (Gender Identity Network Alliance) (formerly Transgender Detroit). She also prepares holiday dinners for those who have no one to help celebrate Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas!

We look forward to working with Michelle and are excited to have her knowledge and experience as part of our PFLAG Chapter. She will be a great asset to our transgender individuals and their families.
